La scena urbana è vista frontalmente con un intersecarsi di edifici principalmente rossi e blu. Vediamo in primo piano sulla sinistra un palazzo marrone scuro mentre dal centro verso destra le mura diventano nere. L’entrata rossa centrale è sormontata dalla bandiera francese. Nel secondo piano notiamo come le palazzine danno slancio alla veduta in particolare quelle blu che sono incastrate come forme geometriche e creano così più piani prospettici. L’ultimo edificio color giallo crema che compare dietro quello rosso centrale con il cumigliolo che fuma, dà un senso di continuità al paesaggio.
I particolari tetti e i diversi cumiglioli sono caratteristici della città francese, anche se al riguardo è l’eccentrico quartiere latino. L’uso del pennino dorato definisce meglio le architetture mettendo in evidenza spigoli, profili e finestre rendendo statica la composizione. La piccola figura in bicicletta che attraversa la strada proporciona tutto il paesaggio contribuendo a definire gli spazi e un tempo.
I tronchi spogli degli alberi dipinti in primo piano, dalle trame nere e bianche e con qualche tocco di azzurro riflettono un atmosfera quieta invernale.
The urban scenery is seen from the front, a mixture of mainly red and blue buildings. We see in the foreground on the left a dark brown building while from the center to the right the walls turn black. On top of the central red entrance there is a French flag. On the second floor we notice how the buildings enhance the view, in particular the blue ones that are set up as geometric shapes creating perspective surfaces. The yellow building behind the central red one with the smokey chimney, gives a sense of continuity to the landscape.
The particular roofs and the various chimneys are characteristic of the French city, even if in this regard it is the eccentric Latin neighbourhood. The use of a golden fountain pen,enhances the architectural structure by highlighting edges, profiles and windows, creating a static composition.The small figure on a bicycle crossing the road adds consistency the whole landscape, defining space and time.
The bare trunks of the trees painted in the foreground, with black and white textures and a few touches of blue reflect a quiet winter atmosphere.
