BREVE BIOGRAFIA
Padre Candido Amantini chiamato “Candido dell’Immacolata” è stato un presbitero, teologo ed esorcista. Nacque a Bagnolo di Santa Fiora, Grosseto (31 Gennaio 1914- Roma 22 settembre 1992) proprio la casa accanto dove nacque Grazioso David.
All’età di dodici anni entrò in seminario presso i padri passionisti e il 23 ottobre del 1929 ricevette l’abito talare e gli fu dato il nome di “Candido dell’Immacolata”, nome appropriato per il candore della persona e per il suo grande amore all’Immacolata.
Nel 1936 a Roma presso la Scala Santa si laureò in Teologia Pontificia presso l’Istituto San Tommaso d’Aquino “Angelicum” a Roma.
Fu ordinato sacerdote a Roma il 13 marzo 1937. Studiò le Sacre Scritture in greco, ebraico, tedesco e sanscrito e fu un ottimo insegnante, ma purtroppo nel 1961 dovette interrompere tale attività a causa di un malore.
Da quel momento in poi comincio ad occuparsi di esorcismi presso la diocesi di Roma.
DESCRIZIONE OPERA
Nel disegno ad inchiostro su carta, Grazioso coglie i tratti, il carattere e l’atteggiamento pacifico di padre Candido.
La figura è disposta frontalmente e sul talare all’altezza del petto il simbolo dei padri passionisti, un cuore sormontato da una croce e la scritta JESUS XPI PASSIO e tre chiodi della crocifissione. Le dita della mano che poggiano sullo stemma, sono disposte con il dito medio e anulare vicino, e simboleggiano la vittoria di Cristo sulla morte.
Il volto esprime serenità, pace e forza spirituale interiore. Egli aveva diversi carismi tra cui una grande sensibilità nel comprendere l’anima delle persone e i loro bisogni. Altro dono era quello della preveggenza, essendo sempre la sua anima in intima comunione con Dio, arrecava alle persone tranquillità e conforto.
Santo Padre Pio disse di lui : “Padre Candido è un Sacerdote secondo il cuore di Cristo”.
Padre Gabriele Amorth è stato suo allievo e ha continuato il suo ministero di esorcista.
Una volta disse di padre Candido: “Era un uomo di Dio… era dotato di carismi speciali, a lui bastava vedere una fotografia di una persona per capire se aveva bisogno di esorcismi oppure di cure mediche”.
Tante sono le testimonianze che lo descrivono come una persona con grandi virtù, in particolare la pazienza. Riceveva le persone sin dalle primissime ore del mattino, per benedire, per confessare e per fare esorcismi. Spesso nella fatica, nei dolori fisici e nei tormenti non si è mai sottratto al suo ministero, tranne che negli ultimi anni in cui era costretto a stare a letto e nonostante l’amore e il dolore oramai fuso in quella unione mistica, appariva sempre sorridente e disponibile agli altri. Offriva tutto se stesso a Cristo per la salvezza delle anime.
SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Father Candido Amantini called "Candido of the Immaculate Conception" he was a presbytarian, theologist and exorcist. He was born in Bagnolo di Santa Fiora, Grosseto (31st of January 1914 and died in Rome on the 22cd of September 1992) next to the house where Grazios David was born.
At the age of twelve he entered the seminary with the Passionist Fathers on the 23rd of October 1929 he received his Ecclesiastical gown. He was given the name of "Candido of the Immaculate Conception", an appropriate name, considering he was a sincere,fair and honest person and for his great love for the Immaculate Conception.
In 1936 in Rome at the Scala Santa he graduated in Pontifical Theology at the Institute of St. Thomas Aquinas "Angelicum" in Rome.
He was ordained a priest in Rome on March 13, 1937. He studied the Holy Scriptures in Greek, Hebrew, German and Sanskrit. He was an excellent teacher, but unfortunately in 1961 he had to interrupt this activity due to an illness.
From that moment on he began to deal with exorcisms in the diocese of Rome.
WORK DESCRIPTION
In the ink drawing on paper, Grazioso captures the features, the character and the peaceful attitude of Father Candido.
The figure is positioned frontally, on his cloak we can see the symbol of the Passionist Fathers, a heart surmounted by a cross and the inscription JESUS XPI PASSIO and three nails of the crucifixion. The fingers of his hand rests on the coat of arms, notice the middle and ring finger are close symbolizing the victory of Christ over death.His face expresses serenity, peace and inner spiritual strength. He had various charismas including a great sensitivity in understanding people's inner souls and their needs. Another gift was that of foresight, since his soul was always in intimate communion with God, he brought tranquility and comfort to people.
Holy Padre Pio said of him: "Father Candido is a priest according to the heart of Christ".
Father Gabriele Amorth was his pupil and continued his ministry as an exorcist.
He once said of Father Candido: "He was a man of God ... he was gifted with special charisma, he only needed to see a photograph of a person to understand if he needed exorcism or medical treatment".
There are many testimonies that describe him as a person with great virtues, especially patience. He received people from the very early hours of the morning, to bless, to confess and to perform exorcisms. Often fatigued, with physical pain and torment he never shied away from his ministry.
During the last years when he was forced to stay in bed despite the love and pain and devotion to the mystical union, he always appeared smiling and available to others. He offered all of himself to Christ for the good of souls.
