“E’ un miracolo che io non abbia rinunciato a tutte le mie speranze perché esse sembrano assurde e inattuabili.
Le conservo ancora, nonostante tutto, perché continuo a credere nell’ultima bontà dell’uomo che può sempre emergere. Mi è impossibile costruire tutto sullo base della morte, della miseria, della confusione. Vedo il mondo mutarsi lentamente in un deserto, odo sempre più forte l’avvicinarsi del rombo che ucciderà noi pure, partecipo al dolore di milioni di uomini, eppure quando guardo il cielo, penso che tutto si volgerà nuovamente al bene, che anche questa spietata durezza cesserà, che ritorneranno l’ordine, la pace e la serenità”
Queste sono una parte delle parole che Annelies Marie Frank o Anna Frank, che scrive nel suo diario qualche giorno prima che i tedeschi irrompano nell’alloggio segreto. Si percepisce dallo scritto, come una ragazzina di soli 13 anni, abbia scavato nel fondo più buio attraverso la sofferenza e la persecuzione, e che non ha mai perso la speranza.
“Una pagina del diario di Anna Frank” è un opera realizzata nel 1964 a circa venti anni dalla sua morte, dall’artista Grazioso David.
La tela è composta da fasce curve che occupano tutto lo spazio pittorico.
Il rosso porpora che vediamo nella parte inferiore della tela è simbolo del sangue versato, quella verde simboleggia la speranza, mentre la parte superiore è di colore nero che simboleggia morte, distruzione, ma il punto luce che compare nei piccoli cerchi concentrici svela l’infinito della vita eterna che ciao attende.
La parte centrale è caratterizzata da un disegno dorato che ha un duplice significato.
Esso è composto da linee ritmiche verticali che si alternano a sfere, ricordano la forma del filo spinato dei campi di sterminio e di concentramento e allo stesso tempo l’artista vuole che ricordi anche la struttura del DNA umano.
Nonostante 7David è stato descritto come artista neofigurativo, in questa opera egli astrae la realtà, senza rinnegarla, e dando ai colori il primato di un forte significato che riassume al tempo stesso una parte della vita, non solo di Anna Frank, ma di tutti gli ebrei perseguitati.
“It's a miracle that I haven't given up on my hopes, all though they seem absurd and
implementable. I still keep my hopes up, despite everything because I continue to believe in the ultimate goodness of mankind.
It is impossible for me to build everything on the basis of death, of misery, of confusion. I see the world slowly change into a desert, I hear the approaching roar louder and louder which will kill us too. I relate to the pain of millions of men, yet when I look at the sky, I think that everything will eventually go back to normal, even this ruthless harshness will cease, that order, peace and serenity will come back.
These are a few words written in Annelies Marie Frank’s (Anne Frank) diary a few
days before the Germans broke into the secret annex. It is understood, from what she writes, how a child of 13 years of age, has dropped into the darkest of depths due to suffering and oppression without ever losing hope.
“A page from Anne Frank's diary” is a work created in 1964 approximately twenty years after her death,
by the artist Grazioso David.
The canvas is composed of curved bands that occupy the entire pictorial space.
The purple red that we see at the bottom of the canvas is a symbol of spilled blood, the green one
symbolizes hope, while the upper part is black which symbolizes death, destruction but the
point of light that appears at the top in the small concentric circles reveals the infinity of eternal life that awaits us.
The central part is characterized by a golden design which has a double meaning. It is composed of
vertical rhythmic lines that alternate with spheres, recalling the shape of the barbed wire of the extermination and concentration camps. At the same time the artist wants it to remember the structure of human DNA.
Although 7David has been described as a neo-figurative artist, in this work he abstracts reality,
without denying it, and giving colors the primacy of a strong meaning which at the same time summarizes a part of life, not only of Anne Frank, but of all persecuted Jews.
